Shadow Dancer Red Bamboo Battle Ready Target Practice Katana Cutter

Shadow Dancer’s Red Bamboo Katana is a visually striking and memorable piece from the Nova Series which combines contemporary modern designs with flawless traditional craftsmanship. 

Its blade is forged from 9260 spring steel which has an elevated content of silicon, producing a blade that has exceptional flexibility and shock resistance. Meanwhile, the shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length) blade has a hard and sharp edge that cuts smoothly with less resistance. 

True to its name, the katana has blackened fittings—including a maru gata (round) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki—with bamboo motifs. The bamboo’s nature to grow straight, tall, and its ability to withstand the winter represents strength, nobility, and resilience—virtues that are highly valued in samurai. 

One mekugi secures the blade’s full tang to the wooden core hilt, allowing for easy disassembly during maintenance. The tsuka is covered in white samegawa and red artificial silk tsuka ito is tightly wrapped in the katatemaki (battle wrap) style for a more secure grip during combat. This tsukamaki’s appearance on older swords such as chokuto and tachi is a testament to its long-standing effectiveness in battle. 

Completing this masterpiece is a red glossy lacquered saya with large white specks reminiscent of a heavy blizzard, creating a vivid and unique pattern that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
