Windlass Persian Scimitar – The Shamshir Sword

Shamshir swords are among the most iconic blades of the Middle East, originating from Persia (modern-day Iran). Known for their deep curves and slim profile, these swords were favored for fast, fluid slicing—whether used on horseback, on foot to reach behind shields, or in duels and martial arts. This is a functional, sharpened replica based on a piece from the Hank Reinhardt collection, adding authenticity to its design.

The blade is forged from 1075 high-carbon steel, with a gentle curve that extends near the tip. A fuller runs along the spine, giving the sword the right amount of flex while reducing weight—ideal for quick and efficient cuts.

The handle is one-handed, with a pistol-grip shape and an extended pommel to support the hand from behind. The hilt is made of wood, and the metal crossguard has the classic diamond shape seen in many historical examples.

It comes with a matching scabbard, featuring steel lashing rings, a steel throat, and a steel chape—bringing together functionality and historical accuracy.
