Shadow Dancer Nova Brown Antiqued Sea Wave Battle Ready Katana Sword

Deceptively plain in appearance, this Shadow Dancer katana exudes quiet authority. Its shinogi-zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade is forged from 1095 carbon steel and honed to an exceptionally sharp edge, recommended for experienced practitioners seeking performance and precision.

The differentially hardened and clay tempered process yields an elegant midare (irregular) hamon on the blade that is visually striking after it is mirror polished. Additionally, the addition of a bohi (fuller) decreases the sword’s overall weight, improves its point of balance, and produces a more defined tachikaze. 

As its name suggests, this katana is equipped with blackened brass fittings with hints of gold, including a maru gata (round) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki with sea wave motifs—symbolizing life, nature, and overcoming adversity. Gold-toned brass seppa and habaki add a touch of warmth, complementing the sword’s overall design. 

In keeping with traditional construction, one mekugi secures the blade to the wooden core Haichi-style tsuka covered in white samegawa and wrapped tightly in dark brown synthetic silk tsuka ito in the katatemaki style. Bringing together the overall design is a glossy brown oil lacquered saya with flecks of gold, paired with an alloy shitodome and a matching thickened sageo.
