PRODUCT DETAILS

Jean de Joinville (c. 1224 - 1317 CE) was a knight and chronicler of medieval France. Having joined King Louis IX on the Seventh Crusade, he later became famous for writing the “Life of Saint Louis,” a first-hand account of the king and the crussafe.

Windlass Steelcrafts tells the story of de Joinville during the Seventh Crusade, who was attacked by a Saracen after losing his lance, tucked his sword under his arm, charged, and slew his opponent. Citing his bravery and devotion, Windlass named this sword in his honor.

Hand forged from 1065 high carbon steel and arriving factory sharpened, this sword style was popular during the 1400s due to its ability to punch through the armor of its time. Its hand-carved hardwood grip is stained a rich hue and comes with steel hilt parts. A leather scabbard with metal throat and tip is included.
