    A flail is a threshing tool in agriculture to separate grains from their husks. Although flails have fallen into disuse due to advancements in technology, its first recorded use as a weapon was in 1218 at the Siege of Damietta. It has also been proposed by some as having inspired the invention of the nunchaku.
