Scottish Single-Hand Sword

Scottish warriors are renowned for their massive two-handed Claymore swords. Unbeknownst to many, these same co-called Claymore swords could be basket-hilted or at times take the shape of a standard medieval Arming Sword. This Scottish Single-Hand Sword is one such replica of a shorter Scottish edged weapon. It originated in the west highlands and western isles featuring the iconic narrowed crossguard.

The blade is forged out of high carbon steel making it a functional piece that can be used for cutting practice. It has a straight double-edged design with a short and slim fuller followed by a reinforced core and a fairly acute tip.

The one-handed hilt has stainless steel fittings that require less maintenance due to the steel's higher corrosion resistance. The handle is wooden and wrapped with leather. The peened wheel pommel, lobed quillons, as well as short langet, are typical of surviving sword pieces found in the Scottish regions.
