Hoso Kumiage

Thaitsuki's Host Kumiage Maru Katana is an elegant piece with a single steel shinogi zukuri (curved with the yokote and ridge close to the back edge) blade. Hand forged from 1095 high carbon steel, clay tempered, and water quenched, the blade has an edge hardness of 55 HRC and 40 HRC for the body.

Extremely sharp with a keen edge, this sword is recommended for experienced cutting practitioners who seek a blade that holds up to regular use. Due to the differential hardening process, there is a striking notare hamon that adds to the aesthetics of the sword. The blade also has a bohi that helps to decrease the overall weight of the sword while improving its point of balance.

Equipped with high quality fittings, it includes a kaku maru gata (square with rounded corners) tsuba with ornate designs of flowers, a theme that is matched by its silver fuchi, kashira, and menuki. The rikko (hourglass style) tsuka is covered with genuine same held in place with tight hinerimaki using black Japanese silk ito. The blade's tang is secured to the hilt with two mekugi for added sturdiness.

In line with the design, the glossy black lacquered saya is fitted with silver kurigata, koiguchi, and sayajiri. The sword is finished with a gold polyester sageo to accentuate the appearance of the sword.
