Shadow Dancer Nova Golden Noble Performance Ready Japanese Katana Sword

Magnificent and regal, two words that best describe this Shadow Dancer katana from their Nova series. Combining modern designs with unrivaled craftsmanship, this masterpiece is a worthy addition to any collection, whether for practice or display. 

With a blade forged from 1095 high carbon steel, the shobu zukuri (resembling an iris leaf) blade has a keen and sharp edge that performs exceptionally well, especially for experienced cutting practitioners. Designed to excel in piercing, cutting, and slashing, the differentially heat treated blade’s elegant sanbonsugi (reminiscent of three cedar trees) hamon is made even more prominent through mirror polishing, maximizing its visual appeal. 

This katana is equipped with a brass sukashi (openwork) tsuba with large clusters of grapes on the vine. This auspicious symbol is chosen due to the homophone “budō”, which can mean grapes (葡萄) or the warrior’s way (武道). Due to its identical pronunciation, using grapes as a motif is a way to pay homage to the samurai code. Additionally, the tight and heavy clusters of fruit also represent prosperity, abundance, and fertility. 

Matching intricate and elaborate brass fittings such as the fuchi and kashira with seigaiha (blue ocean waves), one of the oldest Japanese patterns that represent peace, prosperity, and resilience. Also included are brass menuki, seppa, and habaki that complement the katana’s overall design. 

 Following tradition, a single mekugi secures the full tang blade to the wooden core Haichi-style hilt covered in golden genuine samegawa while the tightly wrapped tsukamaki uses synthetic silk ito for a secure and comfortable grip. 

This majestic looking piece is completed by a glossy oil lacquered saya with alloy shitodome and a thickened sageo.
