Hanwei Katana Heavy Target Cutting XL

Hanwei's practical Plus XL Katana is made to be a sword that focuses on value and function. Designed for maximum cutting capacity on heavy targets, it has a full tang XL blade forged from 1566 high carbon steel, which contains manganese. After differential treatment and clay tempering, the blade has a uniformed hardened microstructure resulting in a tough, durable blade with excellent edge retention.

This katana is equipped with a kikka gata (chrysanthemum shaped) iron tsuba featuring a sunburst design, fuchi and kashira with Japanese Dogwood motif, menuki with the figure of a dragon, and brass habaki. The long tang of the blade is then double pegged to the tsuka for stability and sturdiness. This tsuka is covered with white genuine same and wrapped with tightly woven black cotton tsuka ito.

The sword is then sheathed in a black lacquered saya with black sageo.
