PRODUCT DETAILS

Inspired by the long-handled Nagamaki and the broad Naginata traditions of Japan, this katana-style replica features a hilt reminiscent of a Nagamaki and a distinctive unokubi-zukuri blade profile. That profile reflects a historical form associated with blades reshaped from larger polearm styles during the Edo period while preserving related design characteristics.

Crafted from 1095 high carbon steel, the blade is laminated in the maru, or single-steel, method. Its full-tang construction is double pegged for secure assembly, then heat treated, quenched, and traditionally clay tempered to achieve hardness and reveal a genuine hamon line. Bohi grooves are incorporated into the unokubi-zukuri profile, contributing to the sword’s distinctive appearance and balanced feel for collection, display, and controlled training.

The tsuka is wrapped in historically accurate silk katate-maki over rough rayskin, providing a firm, confident grip and an authentic presentation. A hardwood scabbard with a glossy finish complements the overall design, while alloy, brass, and copper fittings complete the mounting with a refined mix of materials.

For long-term care, the sword can be disassembled for maintenance.
