Shadow Dancer Nami Koshirae Tamahagane Katana

Evoking the soul of the ocean, this Shadow Dancer katana’s shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade is forged from tamahagane—steel smelted from raw iron deposits and folded—and differentially heat treated to yield a stunning gunome (wave) hamon. Traditional sashikomi polishing brings to life the beautiful jihada and temper line, adding to the sword’s overall aesthetics. 

As its name (Nami) implies, this katana’s koshirae—including the cupronickel tsuba, fuchi, and kashira—feature intricate wave motifs, symbolizing resilience, endurance, and strength. It is a reminder of the importance of adaptability in various situations. 

The full tang blade is secured using a mekugi to the wooden core Haichi-style hilt covered in midnight black genuine samegawa held tightly in place with synthetic silk tsuka ito. Completing the katana is a glossy black, oil-lacquered katana fitted with cupronickel shitodome and a matching thickened sageo.
