Shadow Dancer Bamboo Mat Sashikomi Katana

Featuring monochromatic hues, this Shadow Dancer katana is refined and formidable with a shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade forged from crucible steel, ensuring superior shock resistance, edge retention, and remarkable aesthetic effects. Having undergone differential heat treatment, the resulting gunome (waves) hamon is brought to life through traditional Sashikomi polishing.

True to its name, this katana comes equipped with premium fittings—including an iron tsuba, fuchi, kashira, menuki—with bamboo motifs, symbolizing perseverance, upright virtues, resilience, and strength. The fuchi and kashira show the ajiro (網代文様) pattern often made using bamboo strips, where the intersecting, gapless pattern serves as a sign of protection to ward off negative energy on the battlefield. Additional mountings include cupronickel seppa and habaki.

A single mekugi secures the full tang blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka covered in white genuine samegawa tightly wrapped with Japanese imported cotton ito for a durable and comfortable grip. This katana comes sheathed in a glossy black oil lacquered saya with a matching thickened sageo.
