Windlass Viking Ulfberht Sword

Ulfberht swords are renowned blades from the Dark Ages of Europe (6th-9th centuries), known to be among the best of their time. This is a functional replica of one such sword, crafted as accurately as the surviving ones found in museums and featured in many historical books, such as Ian Pierce's Swords of the Viking Age. It is not known whether "Ulfberht" was a brand or the name of a smith, but it represents a technological leap in sword making, producing excellent swords capable of dealing with many different types of enemies. These swords were highly valued by the Vikings and were sometimes targets of their raids.

This sword is made from modern 1080 high carbon steel, which has a higher percentage of carbon content making it tough and ideal for cutting. The blade features an accurate representation of the Ulfberht design engraved on it. This Viking Sword has a fuller to reduce its weight, with a slightly tapered, pointy tip, true to the original design.

The handle is made of wood and wrapped with leather. The pommel carries an accurate brazil-nut shape, and the early models of the crossguard, both made out of steel.

This sword comes with its own leather scabbard and offers a way to experience how well these legendary medieval swords would have performed in cutting.
