Windlass Shogun Kiji Katana with the Japanese Pheasant Motif

This is the Shogun Kiji, one of the many katanas featured in the brand new Netflix show, "Shogun." The sword is made out of 1095 high carbon steel, known for its durability in cutting within the sword community. It has been traditionally clay-tempered, which produced the authentic gunome hamon dancing across its length.

The sword comes with a bohi (groove) that lowers its overall weight and produces a louder tachikaze (sound of slashing). The hardness levels are 45-48 HRC on the spine and 56-58 HRC on the edge, giving it the right balance between flexibility and toughness.

The two-handed handle is tightly wrapped with tsuka-ito atop a rough rayskin pattern. It has two sets of mekugi pegs that increase the general tightness and handling of the handle. The tsuba and other fittings are made out of brass and each enriched with the presence of the Pheasant, the national bird of Japan.

The sword comes with its own scabbard painted matte black and with glossy raindrops to increase its visual appeal. It comes with a cotton sword bag and a cleaning care kit.
