Forged from 9260 spring steel, the higher percentage of silicon in the steel results in a blade that is prized for its flexibility, resilience, and shock resistance. 

Aptly named, this katana is equipped blackened fittings with gold highlughts—including a maru gata (round) tsuba along with the fuchi, kashira, and menuki featuring a tonbo (dragonfly). In Japanese culture, the dragonfly is known as “kachimushi,” meaning “victory insect” due to its hunting technique and agility, moving only forward without retreating. Additional gold-toned fittings such as the seppa and habaki add warmth to complement hte katana’s overall design.

True to tradition, a single mekugi secures the full tang blade to the wooden core tsuka covered in white samegawa wrapped tightly in place using black artificial silk tsuka ito for a durable and secure grip. This piece is completed by a glossy lacquered scabbard and matching artificial silk sageo.
