Shadow Dancer Dragon Black Ishime Katana

Noble and commanding, this katana has a shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade with a beautiful sanbonsugi (reminiscent of three cedar trees) hamon. Its blade is forged from crucible steel, a material prized for its ability to produce a very distinctive hamon and resemble tamahagane steel after differential heat treatment and sashikomi polishing. 

This katana is equipped with stunning premium koshirae, including a cupronickel maru gata (round) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki with elaborately detailed dragon motifs. On the tsuba, the dragon is depicted to be flying across the turbulent sea, representing supreme power, raw energy, and the unpredictable nature of life. Silver-toned seppa and Yujo-style habaki complement the sword’s overall design. 

The full tang blade is secured using one mekugi between the two halves of the Haichi style tsuka. This wooden handle is then covered with white samegawa with a normal emperor node wrapped tightly in place using Japanese silk ito. Hishigami pro (folded paper wedges) is added beneath the wrap to prevent the ito from shifting, resulting in a firmer, more comfortable, and longer lasting grip. 

Last but not least, this katana is completed by a black ishime (stone-textured) saya with horn fittings, cupronickel shitodome, and a matching Japanese rayon sageo.
