Damascus Clay Tempered Hawk Koshirae Katana

This is a Japanese Katana sword, featuring a hawk motif signifying bravery, boldness, and a fighting spirit. It symbolizes the ancient saying, "A wise hawk hides its talents", referring to a highly talented person. The sword is crafted from Damascus Steel, folded 13 times, resulting in 8192 visible blade layers. Traditionally, it has been polished with hazuya stone, water-quenched, and clay-tempered historically to produce a harder edge, a mirror-like shine, and a genuine hamon.

The fittings, made from brass and copper, are enriched and engraved with the Japanese hawk and are fully disassemblable for maintenance. The handle is a ray-skin silk hineri-maki (cord style) wrapped wood and the scabbard is sturdy wood, enhanced with a bright lacquered gloss and held stable with a rattan wrap. The sword lacks bohi (grooves) to augment its cutting power if ordered sharpened, but it can be used safely inside a dojo for Iaido training if unsharpened. It includes a complimentary sword bag.
