Shadow Dancer's Model #4 from the Tyrannosaurus Wakizashi line is an intimidating piece with a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from a combination of 9260 high carbon steel and 51CrV4 spring steel. It is then vacuum heat treated to produce a durable and resilient blade (57 HRC) with excellent edge retention.
Collectors or practitioners who prefer a lighter blade can opt for the addition of a bohi that also helps to improve the sword's point of balance.
Model #4 is equipped with high quality fittings including the blackened iron mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba and blackened brass fuchi and kashira.
The blade is secured to the wooden Haichi style tsuka with one mekugi. The handle is then first covered with white authentic samegawa held in place with artificial silk tsuka ito tightly wrapping it. For the tsuka, options available include the addition of hishigami or hishigami pro that helps to ensure a more consistent and tighter wrapping while preventing the tsuka ito from fraying against the rougher ray skin.
This wakizashi comes sheathed in a black oil lacquered saya fitted with alloy shitodome along with black and white sageo.
Note that this wakizashi is a mass-produced item. However, Shadow Dancer is highly confident that it far surpasses other similar products on the market as they use a rare technique to align the spines of the blade and habaki for a compact fit. Furthermore, they also use epoxy resin to further secure the tsuka and fittings. All these additions contribute to a sturdy and battle ready sword.
Those who prefer the sword without epoxy resin can make a special request in the order notes.
