1095 Buffalo Koshirae Katana

The 1095 Buffalo Koshirae Katana from Shadow Dancer has a clean and elegant design that highlights the principle of beauty in simplicity in Japanese culture. The shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade is forged from 1095 high carbon steel and differentially hardened to produce a tough and sharp blade with a striking choji (cloves) hamon that holds its edge well. The blade is Kesho polished and secured to the hilt with a mekugi.

As its name hints, the maru gata (round) iron tsuba features a buffalo which was once appreciated as an emblem of spring and agriculture. Other premium fittings on this katana are made of brass. The wooden Haichi style tsuka is then covered with white genuine samegawa and the tsuka ito uses high quality artificial leather to give the katana a refined and smooth appearance.

This katana also comes with an oil lacquered saya fitted with brass shitodome and thickened sageo.
