Shadow Dancer 1095 Buffalo Koshirae Katana

This quiet powerhouse of a katana from Shadow Dancer boasts a shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade forged from 1095 high carbon steel, a material prized for its ability to retain a sharp edge. Recommended for experienced cutting practitioners, the differentially heat treated blade produces a beautiful choji (cloves) hamon accentuated by Kesho polishing. 

This katana is equipped with blackened premium fittings which include a maru gata (round) iron tsuba, along with brass fuchi, kashira, menuki, seppa, and Muji style habaki. As its name implies, the handguard portrays water buffaloes, a reminder of the importance of one’s connection to nature, patience, and quiet strength. 

A single mekugi secures the full tang blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka covered in white genuine samegawa wrapped tightly using high-quality synthetic leather ito for a durable and secure grip. 

Completing this piece is a glossy oil lacquered saya with brass shitodome and a thickened sageo.
