Paul Chen or Hanwei's Practical Pro Elite Katana is a formidable looking piece forged from 1566 high carbon steel, differentially hardened, and clay tempered to provide a consistent microstructure that ensures a durable full tang blade that holds its edge remarkably well. The blade is then double pegged to the tsuka for more stability.
This piece is equipped with a meaningful kuruma tsuba that represents the "Wheel of Dharma", an important symbol in Buddhism to denote Buddha's First Sermon in the forest of Sarnath. The dharmachakra represents the Eightfold Path: Right Speech, Right View, Right Actions, Right Resolve, Right Effort, Right Concentration, Right Occupation, and Right Mindfulness.
Suitable for tameshigiri or as a display piece, this katana has a wooden tsuka covered in samegawa and the tsukamaki uses cotton ito to hold it in place, giving it a secure and comfortable grip. It is then completed with a black lacquered wooden saya and sageo.
