Shadow Dancer 9260 Steel Hira Zukuri Katana

This Shadow Dancer Katana’s grounded appearance is rooted in tradition, its dark, sophisticated hues displaying mastered restraint. 

Its mirror-polished hira zukuri (flat and ridgeless) blade is forged from 9260 steel, prized for its impressive flexibility and shock resistance. The heat-treated and oil-quenched blade also features an advanced bohi (fuller) to lighten the sword and optimize its point of balance, enhancing agility and overall performance. 

This masterpiece comes equipped with premium blackened brass fittings—aoi gata (hollyhock shape) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, menuki—adorned with dragon motifs, a symbol of protection, strength, and wisdom. Meanwhile, other gold-toned brass fittings such as the seppa and habaki add contrast and warmth to the overall sword design. 

True to tradition, one mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka covered with white genuine samegawa, then wrapped tightly in place using artificial silk tsuka ito. Depending on preference, the handle can include hishigami, small folded paper triangles placed under the tsuka-maki wrap to uphold its shape and provide a firmer grip.

This katana comes sheathed in an oil-lacquered saya with brass fittings and a thickened sageo.
