Shadow Dancer 9260 Steel Kanmuriotoshi-Zukuri

This Shadow Dancer katana has a kanmuriotoshi zukuri (translating to “crown drop-off,” referring to the distinctive tapering from the blade’s back toward the tip) blade made from 9260 high carbon steel, a material with higher silicon content, giving it impressive resilience, flexibility, and shock resistance. Heat treated and oil quenched, the mirror-polished blade features a bohi which removes excess material to lighten the sword, improve handling, and contribute to its tachikaze. 

Premium quality fittings for this katana include a blackened iron tsuba, brass fuchi, kashira, menuki, seppa, and habaki. The full tang blade is secured between the wooden halves of the Haichi style tsuka using one mekugi. White genuine samegawa covers the handle, held in place by the tight tsukamaki using synthetic silk ito from shifting. Optional hishigami or hishigami pro upgrades use folded paper inserts beneath the ito crossings to maintain consistent tension, spacing, and tsukamaki stability. 

A black oil lacquered saya with alloy shitodome and thickened sageo complete the ensemble.
