Chinese Nine Rings Pudao Weapon

Hanbon Forge's Nine Rings Chinese Pudao is a unique and formidable looking weapon that has a blade traditionally hand-forged from folded steel. Aptly named, this pudao's blade features nine rings along the spine (dull side) of the blade.

These rings were added to pudao in the 19th and early 20th centuries primarily for wushu demonstrations, creating noise to distract or intimidate opponents and possibly to "catch" onto their weapon. Additionally, it is believed that the rings improve handling by offsetting the weapon's center of gravity, allowing for better slashing and raising its lethality.

Equipped with brass fittings, the full tang blade is mounted onto a handle with a core made from Hualee wood and comes with the free option of signature engraving. Despite already being a unique weapon, the stunning blade collar immediately draws one's attention, not only because of its shape but also due to its intricate engravings.

This pudao is available unsharpened or hand-sharpened. It's important to note that historical battlefield pudao polearm/swords were not as heavy as this one. This example is known as a Nine Ring PuDao, which was made for demonstrations and military training.
