Steel Type

Choose steel based on use—some prioritize durability or edge retention, others are best for display. Check the steel descriptions for guidance. All blades include a yokote. All swords come with standard dimensions:
Blade Length - 28"(71 cm) | Handle Length - 10" (26 cm). If you want to change them, we recommend the pro builder.

Carbon Steel + Spring Steel
$150

With 0.60% carbon, 1060 is an affordable and balanced steel. It’s less hard than higher-carbon steels, so it may not hold an edge as long, but it’s tougher and less likely to shatter, making it a cost-effective choice for bladeds with decent durability. 1060 is recommended by the smith over non clay-tempered 1095 because it's more durable.

Carbon Steel + Spring Steel
$150

The 9260 spring steel, with 0.60% carbon and 2% silicon, creates a flexible and sturdy blade that can easily bend without breaking. Its rust resistance makes it ideal for both decorative and heavy-duty cutting tasks. This is the only blade that allows shape customization in the next step.

S7-TIP
$250

The S7 Steel is known in the sword community as "shock steel" due to its ability to retain a sharp edge after rigorous and prolonged cutting activities. Essentially, it's one of the best materials for making durable swords that holds edge well. The blade comes with a mirror polish.

$250

Folded steel is made by layering and folding two different types of steel - in this case, a mix of T8 Carbon steel and 9260 spring steel. The folding process creates a beautiful pattern on the blade from the contrast between the two steels. This method is inspired by traditional Japanese swordmaking techniques. The blade comes with a mirror polish.

1095-carbon-steel-choji-hamon-kesho-tip-21-09-2025
$250

1095 high carbon steel, with a carbon content of 0.95%, is renowned for its hardness and ability to hold a razor-sharp edge. Clay-tempered using the traditional style and finished with a traditional kesho polishing.

Main-Crucible-Steel-Blade-Type
$350

Crucible steel is a smelted steel that produces a more distinctive hamon compared to 1095. With around 0.6% carbon, it strikes a balance—providing good toughness after clay tempering while maintaining moderate edge hardness. This blade comes with a premium sashikomi polish and represents the finest steel in this collection, closely resembling traditional tamahagane.
