Damascus Snake&Monkey Koshirae Samurai Sword

This is a replica Katana sword, modeled after the authentic Japanese blade used by legendary samurai warriors. Its theme, featuring a snake and monkey, was most popular during the Meiji Restoration era (1868). The sword is made from Damascus Steel, folded 13 times to produce approximately 8192 stunningly visible blade layers, further enhanced by traditional hazuya stone polish.

The blade is double-pegged for added security, and clay-tempered (historically accurate method) to achieve ideal hardness and a true hamon line. It features bohi (grooves), reducing weight and providing sound feedback when used for slashing (tachikaze). A wooden core wrapped in rough rayskin is the base for the handle, adorned with a silk tsuka-maki cord wrap. The scabbard is dark hardwood while the fittings are of individual brass and copper elements. The snake and monkey designs boast a brilliant golden hue.
