Dao Sword Pattern Steel Copper Fittings

This sword, a take on the Chinese ZhanMaoDao - known as the 'horse-cutter' - was first employed during the Han Dynasty (202 BCE - 220 CE). It further evolved during the Tang and Song Dynasty period (618-1279). Made from pattern steel, the sword has been folded multiple times to create Damascus-like visible layers and patterns.

The blade has undergone a traditional hazuya polish to enhance the beauty of the grain lines. Its fittings are pure copper and brass, adorned with golden-like Chinese cloud symbols. The scabbard, made from quality ebony wood, complements the hardwood handle, designed for a two-handed grip. This sword is ideal for powerful and impactful cutting practice on tameshigiri, or as a decorative piece to evoke stories of Chinese two-handed swordsmanship.
