European Single-Edged Saber Hanger Sword

The Hanger Sword is a distinct European blade named for the way it was traditionally worn—hanging from a waist belt. While many swords were carried this way, the term “hanger” came to describe the single-edged, slightly curved blades with ornate handles that gained popularity during the 17th and 18th centuries. This particular hanger sword is a functional replica inspired by German models commonly carried by both nobles and commoners for hunting or local defense.

This version is crafted from 5160 spring steel, a modern material favored for its excellent elasticity, toughness, and enhanced resistance to rust and corrosion. The blade features a gentle curve with a raised central ridge, improving both durability and slicing performance.

The handle is shaped to support a more ergonomic grip and easier wear at the hip. Made from strong rosewood, it includes an S-shaped guard for hand protection and added visual appeal.
