Functional Konda Machete – African Blade

Konda or Ikkakalaka swords are distinctive double-edged African blades known for their unusual and historically authentic design, often incorrectly thought to originate from fantasy. This particular Konda sword is inspired by traditional examples found in Central Africa, particularly around the Congo region, and is based closely on museum-held originals as well as contemporary swords still crafted in the area today.

The blade is constructed from 5160 spring steel, recognized for its durability, flexibility, and resistance to rust and corrosion. It features an authentic double-pronged tip designed historically to penetrate or manipulate enemy shields during combat.

The handle is made from genuine rosewood, providing a smooth and comfortable grip. A custom-fitted leather scabbard, specifically tailored to accommodate the sword’s intricate shape, accompanies the blade.
