Japanese Sword Set: Katana, Wakizashi, Tanto

The concept of wearing multiple swords as a samurai set was known as Daisho, which emerged during a time of immense conflict and turmoil. The set included a longer Katana and a smaller Wakizashi, but some sets also had a third, smaller Tanto dagger.

This Daisho set represents the three different swords a samurai could have carried and is entirely made from Damascus Steel, folded thirteen times to produce approximately 8192 visible blade layers.

The blades are full tang and include two bamboo pegs for improved stability. They have also undergone heat treatment and oil quenching, with a bohi (groove) to provide audible feedback when used for slashing. The handle consists of a wooden core, wrapped with a hineri-maki (traditional cord wrap) made of synthetic silk over genuine rayskin. The wooden scabbard features a shiny black/red theme. The fittings of the sword are forged from iron, brass, and copper. These blades are perfect for a collection, safe Iaido training, or potentially lethal tameshigiri practice.
