Ko-Katana 1095 Carbon Steel Blade

The Ko-Katana, a sword used by the legendary samurai, featured the same handle length as a real Katana, but with a slightly shorter blade. This feature made it suitable for use in more compact battle locations, allowing for a more forceful slash. This particular Ko-Katana is made from 1095 high-carbon steel in a single-block style, making it ideal for functional use.

The blade is full tang, providing a double-peg for increased stability. It has been quenched and hardened for optimum rigidity, while its 12-step polish gives it a mirror-like shine. This Ko-Katana also has a bohi (groove) that produces tachikaze (sound feedback) when slashing. The handle features rayskin under a tightly-wound silk tsuka-maki, and its scabbard is made of sturdy hardwood with a glossy finish. The fittings are made of alloy, brass, and copper, all engraved with the image of a horse - a creature that has been worshipped as a god since antiquity in Japan. This is a very affordable katana blade, suitable for cutting practice, decoration, or safe Iaido training.
