Leaping Dragon Gate Jian Damascus Steel Sword 4-Sided

This is a Jian sword with a straight, double-edged, tapering blade that boasts a motif of the Chinese "Dragon Gate". This gate, located atop a waterfall, was protected from intruders. Only the strongest carp fish could leap over it. Once a carp successfully made the jump, it transformed into a flying dragon. This is one of the oldest Chinese cultural legends, symbolizing perseverance, accomplishment, and courage.

The sword is crafted from Damascus Steel that has been folded, producing vibrant lines that illustrate the journey of the fish becoming a dragon. The hand-polished, heat-treated, and oil-quenched blade impresses. Its handle and fittings are made from quality redwood, and a traditional Chinese tassel hangs from its pommel. The fittings are brass, enriched with the Chinese dragon symbol. The blade comes with a free sword bag and can be either sharpened or unsharpened and used for cutting or safe Tai Chi.
