Shadow Dancer Musashi Koshirae Nagamaki-Zukuri Silver Plated Fittings

Gloriously resplendent, this katana from Shadow Dancer captures the essence of clear midnight starry skies. 

Its nagamaki zukuri (heavy, minimally tapering profile with steep slopes from edge to standard ridge and deeply beveled upper spine) blade is forged from crucible steel, a material known for its superior edge retention, shock absorption, and aesthetic appeal. Differentially heat treated and traditionally Sashikomi polished, this katana’s blade reveals a stunning suguha (straight) hamon. Meanwhile, the addition of a bohi reduces the sword’s overall weight while improving its point of balance and optimizing the tachikaze. 

Equipped are high-quality cupronickel fittings—including the tsuba, ishime-ji (stone textured) fuchi and kashira, menuki, and habaki—with an antique finish. The namako gata (sea cucumber shape) handguard is Musashi’s famous invention, also known as the double ring design, loved for its minimalist design, weight reduction, and balance. 

A mekugi secures the full tang blade to the wooden core Haichi-style tsuka covered in white samegawa wrapped tightly using Japanese-imported kapok (silk-cotton) ito for a durable and comfortable grip. 

Tying in the overall design is a beautiful glossy black lacquered galaxy saya with horn fittings, cupronickel shitodome, and a matching thickened sageo.
