PRODUCT DETAILS

The Oxtail Dao or Niuwei dao is one of the most popular Chinese swords in use today. Used mainly during the 19th and 20th centuries in China, it was a popular weapon of war as it was easy to produce and master. Named so due to its flaring tip, this curved single edge blade excels against unarmored opponents especially when thrusting or slashing.

This full tang blade of this oxtail dao by Paul Chen Hanwei is forged with 1566 carbon steel and features a groove to reduce the overall weight of the sword and to give it better stability. The wooden handle is then covered with cord wrap to give it a more secure and comfortable grip. This battle ready sword comes sheathed in a broader and curved scabbard, made to fit its blade.
