PRODUCT DETAILS

Paul Chen's Schlaeger Rapiers feature modified swept hilts to accommodate schlaeger blades in 37" (SH1099) and 43" (SH1098) lengths. These tapered blades offer superior balance and swiftness compared to traditional parallel-sided schlaegers.

Renaissance-style fencing plays a significant role in historical re-enactments, combining the speed of light blades with the essence of the era. The Renaissance-style Rapiers by Paul Chen trace their origins to early 17th century Europe, where rapier swordplay was an essential part of a gentleman's education and conflict resolution. Blades were sourced from renowned centers like Toledo or Solingen, while hilt materials and styles varied across Europe.

The Main Gauche, or left-hand dagger, often accompanied the rapier, adding an additional dimension in both offense and defense. The Schools of Fence in Europe taught the combined use of these weapons. Replacement blades, both live and blunt for sparring, are available for most Rapiers and Main Gauches, offering versatility in training and re-enactments.
