Windlass Single-Edged Arming Sword 1080 Carbon Steel

This authentic replica is based on a sword now housed in the Royal Armouries, believed to have been recovered from the Battle of Castillon in 1453—the final clash of the Hundred Years’ War. Swords like this were used throughout the 15th century for both battlefield combat and knightly duels, known for their broad blades and practical design. This is an accurate replica that copies every detail of the original model.

The blade is hand-forged from 1080 high-carbon steel, tempered and distally tapered for proper balance. It has a wide, thin profile with a fine edge, a false edge near the tip, and even includes the subtle misalignment found on the historical piece. The edges aren’t sharpened but do feature a clear bevel.

The grip is set slightly toward the back edge for better handling. It features curled quillons, a squat scent-stopper pommel, and comes with a wood-core, leather-wrapped scabbard finished with a brass chape and a raised throat covering the ricasso.
