Windlass Authentic 15th Century Falchion Hanger Sword

Falchions were single-edged blades known for their simplicity and brutal effectiveness. This particular style was common in the late 15th century, during the knightly era of battles like Towton, Barnet, Bosworth, Tewkesbury, and more throughout the Wars of the Roses. While cheaper and easier to produce than many swords, falchions were often just as deadly—short, light, and built for power.

This replica is based on a real historical falchion that has been in the Royal Armouries since 1916. Photos of the original and the reproduction are shown side by side, proving how closely the details have been followed.

The blade is forged from 1080 high-carbon steel, with changes in cross-section, a fuller for weight reduction, and hollow grinding. It features a thick spine for durability, just like the original—strong enough to take on mail or plate. Even the deformed lug from the original sword has been faithfully reproduced for total accuracy.

The handle is one-handed, with a hooked pommel, a protective guard, and a forward-angled projection. The grip is wrapped in leather for comfort and control. It comes with a wooden scabbard, fully wrapped in leather for an authentic finish.

It also includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stock and a polishing cloth to help maintain this piece of history.
