Shadow Dancer Reverse Edged Sakabato Katana (Advanced Version)

Popularized by the manga and anime Rurouni Kenshin, the historical existence of a Sakabato Katana was often questioned until a version of the blade was discovered in Japan in 2013.

Like the standard Sakabato Katana by Shadow Dancer, this advanced version of the sword has a reversed blade, meaning that the inside of the blade is sharpened instead of the outside as seen in standard katanas. The shinogi zukuri (but without a yokote) blade is forged from 1095 steel and clay tempered (differential heat treatment) to produce a strong blade with a beautiful notare (irregular and undulating) hamon with great edge retention. The blade is then Kesho polished.

It comes with a blackened brass tsuba and brass fuchi, kashira, and menuki with an antique finish. One mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka with silk tsuka ito tightly wrapping the white real samegawa and hishigami Pro in place.

This advanced Sakabato katana also comes with an oil lacquered saya fitted with brass shitodome and sageo made from imported Japanese rayon.
