This Japanese functional replica carries the nature motif, a symbol in Japan representing purity, growth, and harmony, especially prevalent among beginners studying the art of cutting while perfecting their inner character with the samurai code.

It is made out of 1045 high carbon steel that has been traditionally clay-tempered, a method that applies clay on the edge while hardening it. The result is a harder cutting edge, a softer flexible spine, and a lively hamon pattern dancing across the blade, in this case, a midare hamon which is lively and wild. The blade comes with a bohi groove, lowering its overall weight and producing a louder tachikaze (sound of slashing).

The handle is wrapped with real samegawa rayskin and a tight cotton tsuka-ito wrap. The fittings each carry the nature motif and are made of zinc alloy. The handle is double-pegged for protection and security.
