Shadow Dancer Shobu Zukuri Tanto Sword Short Katana T10 Steel Handmade

This classic and timeless tanto from Shadow Dancer features a shobu zukuri (ridge line runs all the way to the tip without a distinct tip section) blade forged from T10 steel, a Chinese high carbon steel with a slightly higher silicon content than 1095 steel, making it capable of reaching higher toughness, hardness, and more resistance to chipping. The differential heat treatment and clay tempering process the blade undergoes yields a beautiful gunome (waves) hamon made more visible through mirror polishing. 

Mounted in the Hamidashi style, the blackened micro-guard extends slightly beyond the circumference of the hilt that acts as a stopper to prevent the hand from slipping forward during a thrust. Other complementary fittings include a blackened fuchi with floral motif, kashira, menuki, as well as gold-toned brass seppa and habaki. 

Following tradition, a single mekugi secures the nakago within the wooden tsuka covered with white genuine samegawa bound tightly using synthetic silk ito for a durable and secure grip. A glossy oil lacquered saya with thickened sageo completes the ensemble.
