These swords are designed with blades that flex in the last third of their length towards the tip, making thrusting much safer than with traditional wooden wasters or shinai. A high tensile steel rod reinforces the blade/tang joint, running the full length of the handle, effectively removing the flex usually associated with plastic training swords. These synthetic-bladed swords are also an excellent choice for theatrical use, offering inherent safety compared to steel or aluminum blades.

Red Dragon's variety of interchangeable parts provides an economical way to create many different sword styles using a single blade. The longsword and single-hand sword feature ball-shaped quillon finials and rounded pommels, designed for sparring safety. This is also true for the pommel and basket of the basket-hilt sword. 

The grips are made from a rubber-like thermoplastic elastomer, designed to absorb the impact of strikes and ensure a snug fit on the tangs, making these synthetic-bladed swords a versatile choice for various applications.
