Hanwei Torino Main Gauche – Italian Style Parrying Dagger

Torino in Italy is renowned for some of the most extravagant and beautiful swords. Located at a crossroads between Italy, France, and Spain, it has developed sword decorations and styles that quickly became fashionable and prevalent in gentlemanly duels. This Torino Main Gauche is one such piece.

The Main Gauche, literally translated as "second hand" or "parrying dagger," was used alongside a longer rapier in various types of duels to deflect attacks. We offer one such rapier (SH2204) to combine with this dagger.

It has a double-edged straight blade crafted from 1566 high carbon steel. The handle features an elegant cord wrap and a straight crossguard made of stainless steel, which requires very little maintenance. The pommel is round and sizable, adding heft to improve balance.

This Main Gauche comes with a wooden scabbard wrapped in leather, facilitating easier carriage and better protection against rust.
