Windlass Viking Throwing Axe

While the Vikings thought the Viking Sword as the ideal and sought-after weapon to be wielded by them, most of the time they used the tool they had at hand—the trusty axe. This is a replica of a Viking Throwing Axe.

The axe head is solid 1065 high carbon steel that has been darkened for effect and engraved with a knotwork dragon, a theme very common for the Vikings and linked with Ragnarok. The axe head doesn't have the usual extended lower half because this makes it lighter and suitable for throwing at the enemy.

The shaft is made of stained American Hickory, which is light and perfect for throwing. It isn't sharpened, making it ideal for decoration or reenactments.
