YongLe Jian Damascus Steel with Genuine Hamon

The design of this double-edged, straight Jian sword is based on the edged weapon of Yongle (1402-1424), the third Ming Dynasty hero who relocated the Chinese capital to what is now Beijing. It is crafted from Damascus carbon steel, which has undergone multiple folds to create many stunning grain pattern lines on the blade.

The authenticity of the hamon line is due to its real clay-temper, which serves to differentially harden the edge. Its fittings are fashioned from high-quality brass featuring traditional Ming Dynasty motifs and a lion's face to guard the wielder. The scabbard and handle are created from rosewood with fittings traversing its centre. This sword, which can be provided either sharpened or unsharpened, comes with a free sword bag. It is usable for cutting practice, training, or decor.
