Windlass OSS Smatchet

During World War II, the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) and British SAS (Special Air Service) received an effective and somewhat unusual blade made by William Fairbairn. It was the OSS Smatchet, a blade with a leaf-shaped design made for brute cutting and chopping, especially useful for missions taking place behind enemy lines.

This replica is based on an original piece from the inventory of a collector. The blade is forged out of high carbon steel, full tang, and with a blued matte finish, giving it a stealthy look while protecting it better from rust and corrosion. It comes sharpened, and it has a single cutting edge with a sharpened reverse edge at the top.

The handle is hardwood grained and held in place with two big rivets. The pommel is cast aluminum and comes with a lanyard hole, allowing it to be attached to a belt.

This OSS Smatchet comes with its very own hardwood scabbard covered with leather and an angled belt loop, just like the original did.
