Windlass US Model 1917 Bolo Knife with Scabbard

The Bolo knife was a melee weapon used by the U.S. Army from 1897 to 1918, with several design changes over that period. In 1917, it was redesigned with a broad blade that widens noticeably toward the tip, built to handle both combat use and heavy chopping tasks such as clearing brush in the field, which is why it is often referred to as a “chopper.”

This replica is crafted from high-carbon steel and features a full-tang construction with two large bolts securing the handle for excellent balance and durability. The right side of the blade is stamped “US MOD 1917 CT,” while the left side is marked “PLUMB STLOUIS 1918.”

The one-handed wooden grip includes a peaked pommel for a secure hold, and the small crossguard helps keep the hand in place during use.

It comes complete with a No. 1 style scabbard featuring a 1918-dated maker’s stamp on the tip. The scabbard is covered in heavy canvas and fitted with a durable brass throat and brass belt hook, matching the standard WWI configuration.
