PRODUCT DETAILS

Greatswords are the largest and most devastating swords in the history of Europe, hence the name "great." They emerged during the late stages of the Renaissance around the 16th century as plate armor usage declined. These swords were swinging tools capable of taking down multiple enemies at once. They were so popular and widespread that their designs varied, including the Claymore in Scotland, the Montante in Spain, the Spadone in Italy, and the Zweihander in Germany.

This massive greatsword is 56 inches (142 cm) long and built from 1566 high carbon steel, a material renowned for its durability in cutting. The blade features an accurate design with multiple fullers to enhance aesthetics and reduce its overall weight, balancing the center of gravity approximately 3 inches (7.6 cm) from the guard. It also has parrying hooks, which act as a secondary guard when gripping the blade on the ricasso, the unsharpened part after the crossguard.

The two-handed handle is massive, made from wood and then wrapped in leather, allowing for a very tight grip and easier carrying when slung over the shoulder. The fittings, such as the guard and pommel, are made of stainless steel to minimize maintenance.

This greatsword is built for cutting practice and was designed to have approximately the same weight and balance as those used by mercenaries like the Landsknecht.

Please note, due to its length, it is disassembled to make shipping easier. To assemble it, simply slide the guard over the tang, followed by the wider end of the handle, and then screw the pommel onto the very end.
