Shadow Dancer Choji Hamon Sakura Katana

Graceful yet commanding, this masterpiece from Shadow Dancer has a shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade forged from folded steel. Differentially heat treated and clay tempered, the resulting blade has a beautiful jihada and choji (clove buds) hamon accentuated through kesho polishing.

This katana comes equipped with premium ornate blackened brass koshirae, including a mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki. These fittings feature highly detailed and intricate cherry blossoms that serve as a reminder of impermanence and the reminder to bloom fully before falling. Copper seppa and habaki complement the sword’s overall design. 

The blade’s full tang is secured within the wooden core Haichi style tsuka with a mekugi. White samegawa serves as the foundational covering over the handle while the tightly wrapped tsukamaki uses Japanese imported brown cotton ito. Hishigami pro (folded paper wedges) are added beneath the handle wrap, acting as padding and anchors to prevent the ito from shifting to produce a solid and longer lasting grip. 

A stone-textured lacquered saya with brass shitodome and thickened sageo completes this masterpiece.
