PRODUCT DETAILS

The Naginata is a curved single edge blade mounted on a pole, making it a polearm or spear. Used throughout Japan's medieval years, it became popular during the Kamakura period among foot soldiers in melee fights. It was also used by Sohei (warrior monks) to defend their temples.

While retaining some of the traditional attributes, Hanwei's Naginata is improved to meet the needs of a martial arts practitioner. With a full tang blade hand forged from 1065 high carbon steel, differentially hardened, and clay tempered, it has a midareba hamon. It is equipped with a tsuba engraved with a silver butterfly.

The blade is then mounted on a one-piece staff, ensuring that it is strong and solid. The staff also has a traditional tear drop cross section that allows the blade orientation to be easily recognized. It is then given a black non-slip finish that allows the wielder to better control the weapon. It comes with a wooden saya and cloth bag.
