Shadow Dancer 1095 Cream/Brown Katana with Singing Samurai Saya

The combination of an unokubi zukuri (cormorant’s neck) blade forged from 1095 carbon steel with the addition of a bohi results in a lightweight design with enhanced performance. This agile and exceptionally sharp blade capable of quick maneuvers also undergoes a differential heat treatment process, revealing a stunning gunome (wave-like) hamon which not only accentuates the katana’s aesthetics, but also matches the overall theme.

The blackened fittings with gold highlights have wholesome motifs. The tsuba has dragon claws, symbolizing power, protection and wisdom. The word 善 (zen) is also embossed on the tsuba, serving as a reminder of righteousness, goodness, and virtue.

Meanwhile the fuchi has a karakusa (vines) pattern—representing longevity and vitality—on a background of the seigaiha (blue ocean waves) pattern also present on the kashira. This stylized ocean waves is one of the oldest Japanese decorative motifs, signifying peace, resilience, and good fortune.

A single mekugi secures the blade to the wooden tsuka covered in white samegawa bound tightly using black leather tsuka ito in the katatemaki style. This piece is completed by a glossy lacquered scabbard featuring a warrior and the word 侍 (samurai).
